    Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.


    Course Description:

    This course is designed to provide therapists with practical, evidence-based approaches to effectively engage in couples therapy. The course explores psychological principles and extends them into strategies to strengthen therapeutic outcomes. Participants will gain insights into key theoretical models and interventions, the importance of cultural sensitivity in couples therapy, fostering communication, and addressing common clinical challenges.


    Measurable Learning Objectives:

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to...

    1. Identify three key therapeutic frameworks utilized in couples therapy.

    2. List three of the key factors contributing to relational distress.

    3. List five techniques to facilitate communication between partners.

    4. Describe three strategies for managing high-conflict dynamics in couples therapy

    5. Describe two culturally sensitive approaches to therapy with diverse couples.

    Presenter's Bio: 

    Dr. Almena Lowe Mozon is a Clinical Psychologist, Life and Business Empowerment Coach, and founder of Aligned Life Coaching and Psychological Services. She helps individuals align their passions with their life purpose, guiding them to fulfill their "God Dream" and thrive in both personal and professional life. Passionate about healing and wholeness, she provides psychological services to children, adults, couples, and families, and maintains a virtual practice for North Carolinians.

    As a Master Storyteller, Dr. Mozon inspires audiences of all ages with motivational tales, often incorporating music to elevate the experience. She also serves as Church Counselor at New Song Community Church in Oceanside, CA, where she founded the Healed Heart Encounter for women.

    Dr. Mozon is an engaging speaker and teacher, facilitating seminars, workshops, and retreats for businesses, churches, and civic groups. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and holds a Coaching Certification from the Coach Training Alliance. She has been active in various community organizations and earned numerous honors for her leadership, including with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the NC Governor’s One-on-One Mentoring Program.

    She is married to CAPT Ollis J. Mozon, Jr., retired Navy Chaplain, and they have two adult children, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.
