    About Us 

    Who we are

    Who is CAMFT: California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists is our parent organization consisting of 26 Chapters in California. It is an independent professional organization of approximately 38,000 members representing the interests of licensed marriage and family therapists.

    Who and Why LBSB Chapter of CAMFT: The Long Beach South Bay Chapter is devoted to serving its members, the mental health profession and the local community. Our purpose is to create an environment in which Licensed therapists, pre-licensed Trainees & Associates, and allied professionals, can network and grow personally and professionally. 

    Note: ***Member and Sponsor Funded 501(c)(3) Status allowing Tax -Deductible Donations.

    WHAT AND WHEN

    Professional Development: *Monthly Events for 2 CEs (hybrid) every 2nd Friday, *Bi-Monthly Events for 1 CE (in-person) the last Friday of the month. *All events at a discounted fee. You can find out more about upcoming events here.

    In-Person Locations: Monthly Events: Health Conference Center 3315 Medical Center Drive, Auditorium #4, Torrance, CA, 90505  and Bi-Monthly Events: Fusion Academy 550 Deep Valley Drive, Suite 250, Rolling Hills Estates, CA, 90274

    Networking/Social Opportunities: *Networking at every event, *Special Interest Groups are forming, *Annual Job Fair and *Holiday Event, *Therapist Directory

    Platforms used for Communication: *Our www.lbsbcamft.org website of course, *A Listserv facilitating communication between members on all topics, *Weekly Newsletter emailed every Monday morning, *Weekly Social Media updates on Facebook and Instagram 

    Chapter Leadership Opportunities: *Develop leadership skills, *Coordinate professional programs, *Manage membership development, *Create community among clinicians, and *It Looks great on a resume!

    Diversity Equity InclusionLB-SB CAMFT recognizes the call to action to continue our development and growth as an organization in the ways we acknowledge and address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We acknowledge that we have a lot to learn, and we share our commitment to continue to create a culture of inclusion, increasing representation and holding ourselves accountable at every level. We commit to active recruitment for membership of underrepresented portions of our community, based on data analysis. We commit to improving our demographic data collection and data analysis that will inform recruitment, programming, and retention. We commit to amplifying and highlighting community members and organizations offering low-fee and sliding scale resources, and specialized services to underrepresented populations. We commit to active recruitment of Chapter Volunteer Leadership that reflect the diversity of our membership. We commit to providing instruction with diverse presenters that intentionally address issues around diversity, equity and inclusion.


     

    Membership Policy: Membership Applicants must be active Members with CAMFT before becoming Chapter Members with LBSB Chapter. CAMFT membership must be maintained for the duration of LBSB Chapter membership.  If membership with CAMFT lapses you will have a 30 day Grace period.  Director of Membership may also attempt to reach you prior to suspending Chapter benefits.
