Who is CAMFT
California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists is the parent organization to 26 chapters in California. It is an independent professional organization of approximately 38,000 members representing the interests of licensed marriage and family therapists.

Who and Why Long Beach South Bay Chapter of CAMFT (LBSB CAMFT)
The LBSB CAMFT is devoted to providing professional development and resources to the Mental Health professionals, which includes support and connection to each other and excellent services to the residents of Long Beach South Bay, the surrounding communities and beyond!  

Whether you're a seasoned clinician, a recent graduate, or a student beginning your journey in the Mental Health field, the LBSB CAMFT offers valuable resources, connections, and support socially & professionally to help strengthen and reinforce the skills and knowledge needed to help those suffering with emotional hurts, hang ups and addictions.  

The LBSB CAMFT is a 501 (c) (3) organization which allows for all Donations to be Tax Deductible! 

Which means we are Member and Sponsor funded community of Therapists.

The LBSB CAMFT recognizes the call to action to continue our development and growth as a community of Therapists in the ways we acknowledge and address issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We share our commitment to create a culture of inclusion, increasing representation and holding ourselves accountable in every area of operation.

Membership Levels

Our membership categories now align with California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) classification.

Clinical Member: 

Eligibility: A Clinical Member shall hold license as a Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Rights and Privileges: Clinical Members are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Chapter without restriction, including the right to vote in general elections, and eligibility to hold office on the Leadership Team.

Annual Dues: $80


Pre-Licensed Member: 

Eligibility: A Pre-Licensed Member shall be:

  • Enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral degree program satisfying educational requirements for eligibility to sit for the Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker licensure examinations in California
  • A graduate who has completed educational requirements for licensure and is currently gaining hours of supervised experience toward licensure as a registered associate, intern, or in another lawful capacity.

Rights and Privileges: Pre-Licensed Members have the same rights and privileges as Clinical Members, including the right to vote in general elections. 

Annual Dues: $40

Affiliate Member: 

Eligibility: An Affiliate Member is:

  • A professional related to marriage and family therapy whose practitioners are licensed, certified, or registered pursuant to California law, or are specifically exempt from licensure, and who does not hold a California MFT license, or
  • A California-licensed MFT who is a resident and domiciliary of another state or jurisdiction, or
  • A resident and domiciliary of another state or jurisdiction who lawfully practices marriage and family therapy.

Rights and Privileges: Affiliate Members are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Chapter, including the right to vote in general elections.

Annual Dues: $80


Community Partner Member: 

Eligibility: A Community Partner Member is an organization, agency, or business related to the field of marriage and family therapy that seeks to support the mission and programs of LBSB-CAMFT. 

The Community Partner Member may designate one representative to attend meetings or events on its behalf.

Rights and Privileges: Community Partner Members are not eligible to vote or hold office on the Leadership Team

Annual Dues: $200



How to Apply:

Step 1: Verify Your State CAMFT Membership  

  • LBSB Chapter members must first be current Members of State CAMFT. Join or renew your membership at www.camft.org.


Step 2: Complete the LBSB Membership Application

  • First choose your membership level then click Next button to fill out our secure online form.


Step 3: Submit Payment 

  • Membership dues are collected through our online portal within the application.


Membership Policy: LBSB Membership Applicants must be State CAMFT Member. CAMFT membership must be maintained for the entire duration of LBSB Chapter membership. If membership with State CAMFT lapses there is a 30 day Grace period. Director of Membership might contact you before suspending your Chapter benefits.
