Event Grievance Procedures
Long Beach-South Bay (LBSB) Chapter of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. LBSB CAMFT will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content, and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Clinical / DEI Director, CE Events, and Pre-Licensed Directors in consultation with members of LBSB CAMFT’s Executive Leadership, the President, and Vice President.
LBSB CAMFT supports its DEI initiatives, which include fair treatment of all participants and attempts to anticipate problems. Should any issues be brought to the attention of any leader at any type of LBSB Event, LBSB leadership is required to take appropriate action to resolve the matter. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.
When a participant files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken:
1. The participants will be asked to put their concerns in writing.
2. If the grievance concerns a presenter specifically, such as the course content and learning experience or the perceived competency of the presenter, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put their comments in written format. The Clinical / DEI Director will then relay the comments to the presenter, maintaining the confidentiality of the grieved individual. In addition, the grievance will be brought before the Leadership Team at the following Leadership Meeting.
3. If the grievance concerns an event's location, facility, or program administration, the CE Events or Pre-Licensed Directors will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the President or Vice President will:
a. attempt to move the participant to another workshop or
b. provide a credit for a subsequent month's workshop or
c. provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee
Actions 3b and 3c will require a written note documenting the grievance, which will be filed in the grieved individual's account in Wild Apricot's (back office) upon making the adjustments for credit or refund in the comments & notes section. Signature by the grieved individual is not required.
4. If the grievance concerns LBSB CAMFT’s CE Event, in a specific regard, the President or Vice President will attempt to arbitrate.
