    Event Policies and Protocols

    The Long Beach South Bay Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists will be referred to as 'LBSB CAMFT' throughout this document.

    Event Confirmation: Your event registration will be confirmed immediately upon payment of registration, if received one day prior to the event start date.  

    Registration: Register online at www.lbsbcamft.org under the “Events” tab.  Online registration will close 11:59 p.m. exactly one day prior to the event start date. After that time, please register at-door if the event is in-person.

    Fees: If you are attending any one of the events on the www.lbsbcamft.org website there will always be two different fees: 1)  For LBSB CAMFT Members 2) For the Non-Members.  Members are always FREE to attend Monthly Chapter Meetings (Second Friday of each month) which are also referred to as Workshops for the purpose of Networking and Instruction which meets the requirements set by the BBS for receiving Continuing Education Certificate of Completion for 2 credits which is equal to 2 hours of instruction.  

    Note about Fees: If the course is over 2 credits the Fees are Discounted for LBSB CAMFT Members and Non-Members pay the Standard Fee.  Typically we refer to this type of event as a Conference.  Prices will vary for these types of events.  If the event offers No Continuing Education credits, then typically there will be a nominal fee which will cover the cost of a meal and/or supplies.  

    Payment: Check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. We prefer not to take cash.

    Continuing Education: CE certificates are available online or onsite for in-person events, with no fees for the initial certificates! If you need a replacement certificate, each first replacement is free, but subsequent replacements are $10 per workshop or conference certificate.

    LBSB Chapter of CAMFT is approved for CE hours by CAMFT, which is recognized as a CE Provider by the Board of Behavioral Sciences for LMFTs, LEPs, LPCCs, and LCSWs (16 C.C.R. ยง1887.4.3(3)(D));  Pre-licensed members and associates may earn hours of experience for attending LBSB CAMFT workshops/conferences as approved by their supervisors. The content of a course shall be relevant to the practice of marriage and family therapy, clinical social work, professional clinical counseling, and/or educational psychology and meet the requirements set forth in Sections 4980.54, 4989.34, 4996.22, and 4999.76 of the California Business and Professions Code.

    Presenter Opinions and Sensitive Materials Disclaimer: Some workshops may include highly sensitive material. Presenters may express a wide variety of opinions and views which do not necessarily represent the opinions and views of LBSB CAMFT and/or you as an individual. The presenters were selected because of their expertise in their respective subject areas and to provide you with a diversity of views on a variety of topics to enhance your event experience.

    The LBSB CAMFT Programs Director in consultation with the Clinical/DEI Director selects and approves continuing education presenters and programs based on the information provided by the workshop presenters. Neither of these two Directors can always be in attendance at all workshops to ensure that the information delivered is as described in the applications submitted to them. The material and modalities presented by LBSB CAMFT continuing education workshops reflect the views of the presenters and have been made available by LBSB CAMFT for educational and informational purposes only and not as professional advice for specific cases or circumstances.

    Refunds/Cancellations: Requests for refunds must be made in writing (via email to treasurer@lbsbcamft.org) and received by LBSB CAMFT one week prior to the event start date. The Administrative fee for cancellation shall be $20 per event of a paid registration. This fee will be deducted for cancellations through the cancellation deadline. There will be no refunds on requests received after 11:59 p.m. exactly one-week prior to the event start date.

    Returned Checks: A $25.00 service charge will be assessed for returned checks.

    Grievances: While LBSB CAMFT goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the LBSB CAMFT Board of Directors which will require intervention and/ or action on the part of the Board of Directors.     Special Needs: Facilities used by LBSB CAMFT are accessible to persons with disabilities. If you have a special need and plan to attend the event, please contact LBSB CAMFT at president@lbsbcamft.org. Special needs requests will be fulfilled if received at least 2 weeks prior to the event start date.

    Private Functions: In the interest of the success of the event, attendees and sponsors must agree not to extend invitations, call meetings, or otherwise encourage absence of attendees from the event’s official planned activities during the official hours of the event. Anyone hosting a function or reserving function space in conjunction with the event must receive prior approval from LBSB CAMFT.

    Canvassing or Distribution: No canvassing or distribution of materials is allowed at the event by anyone who has not pre-purchased a sponsorship opportunity.

    Sponsorships Disclaimer: Products and services displayed on LBSB CAMFT advertising platforms such as Eblasts, Website, M2M Newsletters or Social Media sites ie., Facebook or Instagram or at an in-person event occur by contractual business arrangements between LBSB CAMFT and participating companies and organizations. These arrangements do not constitute or imply LBSB CAMFT’s endorsement of these products and services. Further, LBSB CAMFT cannot make specific recommendations for such products, programs, or services.

    Consent to Use of Photographic and Video Images: LBSB CAMFT and its affiliates may be photographing, videotaping, audiotaping or webcasting CAMFT meetings, activities, and LBSB CAMFT-sponsored events. Registration, attendance at, and/or participation at any of these events constitute an agreement by the registrant or attendee to these activities and to the use and distribution of the registrant’s or attendee’s image, likeness, or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes.

    Fragrance Sensitivity: To keep the environment free from unnecessary irritants, participants are asked to refrain from wearing heavily scented perfumes, colognes, or other products.

    Anti-Harassment Policy: LBSBCAMFT is committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants at its virtual or in-person meetings or events. We expect all participants at a LBSB CAMFT meeting or event to abide by this Anti-Harassment Policy in all venues, including ancillary events and official and unofficial social gatherings:

      • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.
      • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
      • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
      • Alert board/community leaders if you notice harassment

    IF YOU ARE BEING HARASSED, NOTICE THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS BEING HARASSED, OR HAVE ANY OTHER CONCERNS, PLEASE CONTACT A MEMBER OF THE BOARD IMMEDIATELY.

    Unacceptable behavior from any participant at a LBSB CAMFT meeting or event, including attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, contractors, volunteer leaders, vendors, venue staff, and anyone with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.

    If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, LBSB CAMFT may take any action they deem appropriate, including removal from a LBSB CAMFT meeting or event (without refund) at which the harassment occurred. Egregious violations will result in more severe sanctions.
