Navigating Telehealth in California: The Dynamic Landscape for Therapists in California

Telehealth has become a vital tool for therapists to provide accessible and effective mental health services. This BBS approved three (3) hour presentation explores the ever-changing landscape of telehealth in California, shedding light on the unique opportunities and considerations therapists need to navigate and thrive in this digital era.
Educational Learning Objectives
1. Define telehealth and know which CA laws pertain to therapists & their clients.
2. Describe the 4 guidelines for initiating telehealth services with clients.
3. List 3 required items a therapist must do each session of telehealth with a client.
4. Explore and understand ethical considerations, best practices skills & cultural considerations for telehealth.
BIO:
Sheralyn (Sherry) Shockey-Pope, LMFT #37209, is an author and National speaker with twenty years of experience as a therapist. She is Co-Owner and Chief Operations Officer of Central Counseling Services, a successful and vibrant group practice. She has been licensed since 2000. Sherry oversees the day-to- day operation of the practice in two locations, Riverside and Murrieta, CA. She directly supervises associates and the support staff. Sherry has a strong passion for training and is a CEPA-approved trainer. She has and provides training in Telehealth, Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention, Self Care for Therapists, Intimate Partner Violence, Ethnographic Interviewing, and Mental Health Education for County Social Workers and Therapists Can Be Successful Business People. Sherry is the creator and author of Therapist Practice in a Box (therapistbox.com), the graduate school program on business you have never had. This program is designed to help graduate students, associates, and newly licensed therapists build a solid foundation for private practice.
