This course demonstrates credibility through the involvement of the broader
mental health practices and education. There is still very little education about
male survivors or how to treat them Gaining understanding and knowing how
important the therapist role is to this population. Therapists need to be
comfortable with sexuality, be education in sexuality and willing to talk about it.
Therapists also need to be educated in dealing with DID patients.
Educational Learning Objectives
1. Participants will be able to describe the ACE test and share the value.
2. Participants will be able to name three roadblocks for men sharing
their story.
3. Participants will be able to discuss two benefits of telling one’s story.
4. Participants will be able to list three tools for recovery.
BIO:
Carol Teitelbaum, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education, Educational Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, both from California State University, Northridge, California. Carol has been licensed since 1985.
Since 1999 she has had a private practice in the Coachella Valley, 41-750 Rancho Las Palmas H2, Rancho Mirage, Calif. 92270 760-346-4606. She offers individual therapy for trauma, PTSD, Mood Disorders, anxiety reduction, relationship therapy.
Carol is currently the President of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Desert Chapter. She was a long-term co-chair of the Riverside County Child Abuse Council, chairing the It Happens to Boys Project. She has been a workshop leader and conference speaker and author. Some of her presentations include Desert Sands School District, Betty Ford Center, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, West Coast Symposium, U.S. Journal, Evolution of Addiction, Labor Assistance Professional Conference, Michael’s House and more.
Founder and conference coordinator of Creative Change Conferences focusing on the healing of men who were abused as children. The annual conference is now in its 15th year. She offers a free group for men abused as children.
She has authored two books with her husband, Robert, as well as many articles in recovery magazines.
