Course Outline:
This advanced course is designed to increase understanding of supports and services available in the schools and how clients can obtain them. The course will deepen attendees' understanding of the IEP and 504 processes. Participants will learn the difference between a 504 and IEP, the legal criteria required to qualify for each, as well as the services and protections available within both. This course will illuminate multiple ways in which private clinicians can collaborate with the schools to support their clients. Attendees will also learn how receiving extra support in school can impact children and teens socio-emotionally.
Learning Objectives:
1.) Participants will be able to describe the two levels of support available in the school, what they include and how to qualify for them.
2.) Participants will acquire understanding of two of the main social- emotional impacts of having special support in school.
3.) Participants will be able to identify at least 5 ways they can collaborate with the school to support their clients in achieving academic success.

Course meets the qualifications for two (2) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Refund Policy: With a 24-hour written notice, a full refund will be provided. With less than 24 hours' notice, credit towards attendance at a future education program course will be provided. Target Audience: This educational program is planned for marriage and family therapists, marriage and family therapy associates, social workers, counselors and/or educations psychologist. Awarding Course Completion Certifications: LB-SB CAMFT monitors attendance with sign-in and sign-out sheets and final course evaluations. Once the participate have signed out and provided course evaluations, course completion certificates will be emailed to your with 14 days. . Grievances: The Program Administrator (PA) and Board of Directors (BOD) will handle complaints or grievances and conduct investigations to determine the appropriate resolutions.
