We continue our book discussion of Andrew Solomon's "Far From the Tree - Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity" which studies families coping with deafness, dwarfism, Down syndrome, autism, schizophrenia, or multiple severe disabilities, and children who are prodigies, were conceived in rape, have become criminals or are transgender.  Solomon addresses one of the critical questions of how much are we defined by nature versus nurture.  In addition to being on the New York Times Bestseller List, "Far From the Tree" was the winner of more than a dozen national book awards.

If you prefer to read another book on the topic of exceptional differences between parent and child and the search for identity, you are welcome to do so. Please briefly summarize and discuss your selected book with the group.  A one-page summary is recommended but not required.

"If you have any questions about the book group or this particular topic, please contact Betsy McBride, LMFT at bmcbridetherapy@aol.com or Jennifer Birner, LMFT at jb@jenniferbirner.com

    Happy Reading!
